LeadSafeCNY Task Force
In collaboration with Home HeadQuarters and the Central/Eastern NY Lead Poisoning Resource Center, the Central New York Community Foundation convenes the LeadSafeCNY Task Force. The task force is comprised of representatives from the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, public health, the medical community, nonprofit leaders, philanthropy, and residents. The task force is charged with reducing lead and environmental health hazards in pre-1978 housing, as well as expanding testing and community awareness of the problem. Efforts range from lead-free housing construction, existing home renovations, community outreach and training, workforce development, public policy and more.
The LeadSafeCNY Task Force convene members at least four times per year, based on need. Meetings have a specific agenda with a focus on updates from members, local expert presentations, collaboration and grant considerations, and identifying gaps and opportunities to create a lead-safe community for CNY. The agenda will be determined by member feedback on current needs and capacity.
